Hello Sun Managers:
I have an 360 Mhz Ultra 5 running Solaris 8 kernel
patch 108528-15 that I would like to install a SunPCI
card (part number 375-0075). Its OBP version is 3.31.0
#uname -a
SunOS ultra5 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4u sparc
SUNW,Ultra5_10
#/usr/sbin/prtconf -V
OBP 3.31.0 2001/07/25 20:36
After following the Sunpci Quick Installation
procedure from Sunsolve (infodoc 20255) and load the
latest Sunpci2 driver (version 2.3.1) from the sun
website:
http://www.sun.com/desktop/products/sunpci/sunpci_download.html
it complained at the end of the software installation
procedure as follows: (during postinstall script):
Warning: /etc/devlink.tab not updated correctly.
Perhaps the system OBP needs to be updated
This is what I have on /etc/devlink.tab: (at the end)
#The following lines added for SunPCi 2 Device Driver
type=ddi_pseudo;name=pci108e,7063 sunpci2drv\N0
After rebooting the U5, I noticed that there is a
process called "sunpcid" running on my system, but
when I tried to invoke "sunpci" it complained:
#/opt/SUNWspci2/bin/sunpci
The SunPCi device driver is not installed.
To run the startup program:
1. Type: su, then enter your superuser password.
2. Type: cd /opt/SUNWspci2/drivers/solaris
3. Type: ./sunpcload
When I run "sunpcload" it also complained:
#/opt/SUNWspci2/drivers/solaris/sunpcload
devfsadm: driver failed to attach: sunpci2drv
Warning: Driver (sunpci2drv) successfully added to
system but failed to attach
Does anybody know what this error message mean?
What did I do wrong? Is this infodoc 20255 the correct
procedure for SunPCI2 driver?
Thanks for any feedback
