network install failed with no useful error

 I'm trying to netboot a v120 off a 2.8 install server. I've installed one
v120 from this server previously, so I suspect the install server itself
is OK. The only thing I've changed on the network is some dns/dhcp
settings - but on all hosts on the network, the ip's in question resolve
as I'd expect them to. After having the problem, I've run
"rm_install_client" and "add_install_client" to make sure it wasn't a
configuration problem from when the client had a different hostname.

After I type "boot net" into the prom, it resets and downloads the kernel
off the install server. It then prints the usual "SunOS release 5.8.."
message as the kernel initialises, then

whoami: domain not found

and stops. I'd appreciate it if anyone that has seen & solved this before
could give me some pointers.

John
