Hi all,

        The following command "expr length abc" gives me value of
length of string abc ( that is 3 ) on Digital ( Compaq Tru-Alpha )
platform. But the same thing gives syntax error on Solaris.

        Can anybody tell me the syntax that will work on Solaris for the
same purpose ?
