Thanks to all who replied.... My problem was traced back to the fact that
ypxfrd was not running on the new master.... I've completed the move and am
running on a new master....

Quick question about moving an NIS master server. I'm moving from an old
Ultra1 running 2.5.1
to an E4500 running Solaris 8. I'm followong along with the O'Reilly
"Managing NFS and NIS" book
under the heading "Changing NIS Master Servers", but I must be doing
something wrong...
I copied the Makefile and the map source files to the new machine, and did
the following:
cd /var/yp
rm *.time
make NOPUSH=1
This works fine... Then, I'm supposed to go to the old server and do a
ypxfr -h newmaster -f passwd.byuid
This yeilds the error:
bind_to_server __clnt_create_rsvd error: RPC: Program not registered
Any idea what I'm missing???
