Having problems with a DELL Powervault 100T 4mm DDS4 external tape drive with a Ultra 1 system running Solaris 8. . This is actually a Seagate STD 6401LW or Scorpion 40.

I've set dip switch 5,6,7,8 for Solaris Unix and used both settings for dip switch 10,
ARCHIVE and SEAGATE DAT, and neither settings work.

Entries in /kernel/drv/st.conf:
"ARCHIVE Python 06408-XXX8130","Archive Python 4mm Helical Scan","ARCH_Python",
"SEAGATE DAT 06408-XXX","Seagate DAT Drive","SEAGATE_DAT";

ARCH_Python = 1,0x2c,0,0xde39,4,0x00,0x8c,0x8c,0x8c,3;
SEAGATE_DAT = 1,0x34,0,0xd639,4,0x00,0x8c,0x8c,0x8c,3;

Using multiple ufsdumps in a script, I cannot dump more than 3-4 gigabytes to the
No-rewind device.

  DUMP: Estimated 41130 blocks (20.08MB).
  DUMP: NEEDS ATTENTION: Cannot open `ercolano:/dev/nrst28'. Do you want to retry the open?: ("yes" or "no") YES

The tape is prematurely ejecting after 3-4 gigabytes are copied then gives the error.

Using the Seagate tape utility program, I can successfully write 32 GB to the tape in compressed mode.

Does anyone have the correct blocking / density codes for using ufsdump with this
Tape drive?
