DCE, DTE, null modem, crossover, which one?

Hi all,

The previous SA setup a cheap console server hook up to Sun and Cisco
devices. This is a touble left for me to fix. For the quick questions, I
need to find out

- what type of adaptor should be used on E220R
(I know it is different from X1,T1...etc)
- what is the pin layout on a DB25 for DCE and DTE
- what type of connection should be used on Cisco PIX/switch

I am not sure if these are the right question. I remember the SA said the
card came with DB25 female connectors. He bought some DB25-RJ45 adaptors.
He then did some wiring in the adaptor for a DCE-DTE switch (I don't know
which one) so that he can use straight through cables instead of
crossover/rollover cables to hook up to the devices.

So.. there's a mystery and some clues. Is there any good detectives here?

Thanks
William
