Strange RAID performance with A1000

Experts,

Last week I had a power supply failure on an A1000 disk array. This meant
that the write back caching was automatically disabled as it should be. When
this happened, the IO performance on the E420R (Solaris8) using this array
suffered dramatically for about 4 hours (as expected), then resumed almost
normal performance (unexpected). I don't understand why this is so. I would
have expected the IO performance to be significantly degraded until the power
supply was fixed and write back caching was enabled. Can anybody out there
enlighten me on this RAID phenomenon...I'll be sleeping badly until I find out
:-).

ps. Will summarise!

Cheers, Craig
