disabling multicast in solaris 9

Hello All,

I'm trying to disable multicast in Solaris 9. All of the documentation on the web I've found says that all I need to do is comment out all of the lines relating to multicast in /etc/init.d/inetsvc. An example of this documentation is here: www.sun.com/blueprints/0100/security.pdf

Now I've made these modifications, and rebooted the machine (just in case) and the machine is still replying to multicast traffic. I've verified that all of the multicast routes are indeed not created, but when I do an 'ifconfig -a' interface hme0 still shows up as follows:

hme0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2

which implies to me that the interface option for multicast needs to be changed elsewhere. I've googled for hours and haven't been able to find any sort of 'ifconfig' or 'ndd' option to turn of multicast, so any help you guys could give would be very much appreciated!

Oh, in case you're wondering, yes I do indeed _need_ to have multicast turned off. It's for some multicast testing that we're doing.

Thank you for your time.
