Thanks for all the replies. In answer to a few questions:

It's UFS (veritas mirror)
No errors in /var/adm/messages

Firstly I tried a truss on /test and a few of the locked users. Didn't
really turn up much.

So I decided to take action. My plan was to trash /test and restore it from
backup. Unfortunately the OS wasn't going to give up the fight so easily!

umount /test - This just froze my session
umount -f /test - This just froze my session

So tried to unmount it from veritas (vea) - Froze my vea session.

I tried to unmount one of our spare partitions (/spare), no problems atall.

So, I'm out of ideas. All I have left is to remove /test from vfstab and
reboot the box, although I can't try that until I have someone in the server
centre.

Many Thanks
