Hi All,
My first time here, I went through the FAQ and archives but no luck. I'm including ALL the details as the FAQ suggests.
System command outputs are at the end.
I have an old production machine (Netra T12) running Solaris 9 and a few days ago started to switch the time back by 1 hour. I restarted xntpd and it worked fine but again about 15 minutes after the hour it did the same thing.
I have checked the man pages and exhausted pretty much the online resources that I could find but can't understand whats wrong. I have compared this to another box with the same ntp config (ntp.conf) and the same ntp server list and that other box is also running Solaris 9 but that one is working fine and xntpd on that has been running since March. I thought of the DST patch but both the machines had the DST patch applied around March 8 2007. I have tried zeroing out/removing the drift file also - no luck. The ntp server is absolutely fine and has the correct time. I also checked the box's system controller and that has the correct time too, the only difference is that the SC shows the box has been up for 547 days - which is wrong. The box has been up for 260+ days only (booted March 7 2007). The timezone is Eastern.
For now I'm running a temporary script that restarts xntpd every hour, which is keeping the time current and letting cronjobs, etc. to occur correctly but that obviously is not the right solution.
I have not rebooted it yet as I will need to coordinate with application folks, but I wanted to first understand/troubleshoot.
I would really appreciate any help/advixce/suggestions....
Thanks
