Dear Managers,
It is a strange question about file transfers/copy from HP/SAN to
Sun/QFS file system.
I am trying to copy a directory from my HP server SAN to Sun server's
QFS volume. The command I am using is rcp. I am able to copy the
directory. The surprising factor is that directory which is about 400 Mb
in HP becomes 10 Gb in Sun. I checked number of files, it is same in
both places. But how come the size of directories is THAT MUCH
different.
I tried TAR/ftp/untar as well from HP - Sun. But that time also, the
result was 400Mb (HP) to 12Gb in Sun. :(
Fyi, this is only directory creating problem. I have transferred Gbs of
data (other directories) using RCP/TAR without any problem in same
filesystems/environemts.
Any pointers where to start the investigation?
The number of files is around 80,000 in these directory.
I will consolidate the replies and solution.
Thanks for your time.
Vikas
