taking backups

Hi, I am looking into backing up several systems on our network. The
groups of servers are on different subnets and have differing versions of
Solaris (from 2 upwards).
I am thinking of storing these backups on an appointed backup server,
with RAID system.
Most of the servers feature mirrored filesystems spread accross two or
more disks.
I have been looking into Flash Archives, but I am not convinced it will
be the most effective option, also as it only supported with Solaris 8
and above.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the better backup
techniques to use, e.g. ufsdumps?
And also if there is a way of preserving or recording the filesystem
structure of the backed up servers?

Regards
Nik
