13W3 to HD15 to LCD?

Greetings.
We have some really old Sun monitors we are trying to upgrade.
One possible upgrade path was to drop in our brand new
LCD panel from HP. It has two ports:
1. a digital input which works well with the Linux box that will be
driving it eventually....
2. HD15 (VGA?)

Well, the 13W3-adapted-to-HD13 with 130-3034 does not drive this LCD.

The LCD reports "No Signal."

My colleague suggested changing the resolution in the Window Manager,
but I think it might need to be changed lower down in the drivers.
We are using CDE on Solaris 8 on (cough) a Sparc 20.

BTW, we have a BlackBox VGA splitter which can drive
a monitor different than its input, but it did not help.

We were wondering if anyone has faced this, and maybe has an idea.

Thanks

(For your amusement, the reason we wanted to drive the
LCD from the Sun was so we could install the new screens,
and let them keep working with the old servers, but have
training sessions for all the shifts just by changing the Input
Source.

Fortunately, the new box can drive the old VGA monitor, and we'll
just wait to upgrade that until the boxes are changed.

Thanks
