Editing/ Deleting user information.

Managers,

Could you please suggest me how to remove users and change User ID in
NISenvironment? User information (database) is located on different
location
other then /etc. I have couple of users need to be deleteded and one of the
users needs to change U_ID.

I think I can do this by simply copying passwd and shadow file in a test box
and put those files in /etc and write a simple script to delete unnecessary
users using userdel command or directly edit the files to delete/modify the
users (lengthy process I believe).

But I am thinking there should be a better way to deal with this kind of
scenario. So, could you please share if there a way to change user
information commands (like usermod/userdel) other then directly (manually)
editing it.

Thanks

Kamal
