Nis+ Replica Server Removal

I rebuilt a Nis+ replica server recently and now my master server tells
me the server is Unavailable whenever I do a nisping. Similarly the
replica server tells me that it was updated a while ago. I thought I'd
remove the replica server and try again but I am apprehensive of using
the nisrmdir command. If I issue "nisrmdir -s replica_server domain" on
the master server I am prompted to remove the domain. I am following
what the man pages say to do but surely this is wrong. Can anyone tell
me how to remove a replica server please? Also why does it prompt to
remove the domain even though I have given the -s flag to remove a
replica?

I think that during the rebuild I didn't have rpc.nisd running before I
ran the nismkdir command, would this cause the master to fail to update
the replica?
