error writing ufs log

Greetings,

I inherited (via a contract) an old e450, and as usual (if I am permitted
to say this without hurting any egos), there is absolutely no recorded(s)
available about the history of this system.

This system had three 36GB SEAGATE disks in slot 0, 1 and 2. After a
completely successful Solaris 9/05 installation/reboot (no warning messages
whatsoever), I am getting the following error message(s):

WARNING: /pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/sd@0,0 (sd0):
Error for Command: write(10) Error level: Retryable
Requested Block: 41239122 Error Block: 41239122
    Vendor: SEAGATE Serial Number: 0048D14BB2
    Sense Key: Not Ready
    ASC: 0x4 (<vendor unique code 0x4>), ASCQ" 0x1, FRU: 0x2
WARNING: Error writing ufs log
WARNING: ufs log for /var changed state to Error
WARNING: Please unmount(1M) /var and run fsck(1M)

I do remember seeing these error messages in Solaris 7 (that is, the UFS
logging code was getting all sorts of I/O errors while reading/writing the
ondisk log) which could be fixed with some OS patches, but I am not sure
if this is the case (in Solaris 9), or just a (bad) hard disk causing
this problem this time.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Ioan
