A1000 -> D1000?

Hello,

I have an older system with an A1000 array which has just been dropped
from support. Since the battery replacement (every 2 years or so) is
expensive, I'm wondering if it makes sense to disable the hardware raid
and use raidz on the array? Is there anything I need to do to make the
A1000 function as a D1000?
