Sun T2000 hangs on multi-user boot

I have a Sun T2000 running Solaris 10 and Veritas Volume Manager 4.1 MP2.
I just brought the system down to single user mode and installed the Sun Recommended Patch Cluster from May 23, 2007.
Patches installed fine and then I rebooted the system only to have it hang on the boot up:
Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device: disk0 File and args:
SunOS Release 5.10 Version Generic_125100-07 64-bit
Copyright 1983-2006 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.

Hostname: ldaextora01
NOTICE: VxVM vxdmp V-5-0-34 added disk array DISKS, datype = Disk
<The system hangs here...>

Interestingly enough I can boot to single user mode with no problem,
and then can type control-d to continue the boot to multi-user mode with no problems:

Root password for system maintenance (control-d to bypass): <I typed control-d here>
svc.startd: Returning to milestone all.
ldaextora01 console login:

A verbose boot (boot -v) is not showing anything past the last line in a regular boot.

Any ideas as to why it can't boot directly to multi-user mode?

peace,
dannyB
