Hi Sun Managers
I have a quick question about i386 based SunFire boxes (specifically the x4100
and v40z). The disks in these boxes always have slice 8 and 9 set up in
addtition to the 7 standard slices i.e. ....

My question is this ....what exactly are these for and specifically slice 8
that is marked up as "boot" and occupies the first cylinder of the disk. My
initial thought was that this was some kind of boot sector, but this 1 cyl
slice exists on all disks not just the root/bootable one ? Does it need to be
there occupying a cylinder or can I trash that slice and use the cylinder in
another slice.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
