Background:
Solaris 8 Kernel 117350-28
Sosltice DiskSuite 4.2.1
When running metastat, the command prints out the information on all
our meta devices and then prints "metastat: HOSTNAME: No such file or
directory" at the end. Running metastat with each of our devices as
an argument does not produce the error message. This error also
appears when trying to create a new metadevice with metainit. The
device is not created.
Running metatool results in:
Initializing metatool... Done.
Discovering drives and slices... Done.
Discovering database replicas... Done.
Discovering hot spare pools... HOSTNAME: No such file or directory
Is this problem related to hot spares? I do not recall configuring
any hot spares for our meta devices. Running "metahs -i" results in
the above error.
Running metainit and metahs through truss results in the following at
the bottom of the output:
ioctl(3, (('V'<<8)|9), 0xFFBEF260) = 0
ioctl(3, (('V'<<8)|2), 0xFFBEF140) = 0
ioctl(3, (('V'<<8)|2), 0xFFBEF140) = 0
ioctl(3, (('V'<<8)|6), 0xFFBEF0C8) Err#2 ENOENT
write(2, " m e t a i n i t", 8) = 8
write(2, " : ", 2) = 2
write(2, " H O S T N A M E : N o s u".., 33) = 33
write(2, "\n", 1) = 1
fcntl(4, F_SETLK, 0xFFBEF4FC) = 0
close(4) = 0
llseek(0, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 182762
llseek(5, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 1621
_exit(1)
All the entries in /dev/md/rdsk seem to be intact. Has anyone else
encountered ths problem. It started after we removed a meta deivce we
no longer needed. I believe it was removed with "metaclear dX"
Thanks
