X4500 won't boot: "cannot open biosint"

Hi Sunmanagers. I have a pair of X4500s running Solaris 10 x86 update 3.
One system has a mirrored root, the other doesn't.

Yesterday they were shut down, and today they won't come back up.

The GRUB menu loads fine, but when it boots the default entry,
(Solaris 10 11/06 s10x_u3wos_10 X86), GRUB freezes and the message
"cannot open biosint" appears on the monitor (not the ILOM console
connection -- I have to physically plug in a SVGA monitor to the
box to see this message. Good thing I'm close to the box.)

I can boot off the "Solaris Failsafe" GRUB option, and can mount
the boot/root disks w/o a problem. I've tried rebuilding the boot
archive (bootadm update-archive -R ...) on both systems, but I get
the same results.

The only thing I've found that refers to the "cannot open biosint"
message is the source code:

 http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/netvirt/usr/src/psm/stand/boot/i386/common/bios.c

I have confirmed that there is a 'biosint' file under /platform/i86pc
and that its checksum matches another, working system.

Any suggestions? There's no data on the root drives, so I can re-jumpstart
these machines if necessary, but I'd like to know how to fix this if it
ever comes up again.

Thanks,
James
