Printing from Solaris to Windows-shared printers

Dear all,

We are having problems with raw-print from Solaris to our two Canon networked printers,
iR C4080 and iR5800C, both postscript. Only prints black and white when printing from
Solaris. Printing from the same Solaris clients to e.g. HP colorptinters works fine.

The Canon-printers are added to Solaris hosts like this:

% lpadmin -p canon -v /dev/null -m netstandard -o dest=canon:9100 -o protocol=tcp \
          -o banner=never -T PS -I postscript
% enable canon
% accept canon

In /etc/printers.conf:

canon:\
        :bsdaddr=balder,canon,Solaris:

canon is listed in /etc/hosts & DNS. balder is a Solaris host, Solaris 10, Sparc.

Colored prints works fine from Windows clients (printers shared a from Windows 2003 server),
so maybe UNIX prints will work as well if we print via Windows...

How do I configure the Solaris-clients / Windows 2003 server so that we can print from the
UNIX-clients via the 2003-server? The 2003-server has UNIX LPR printing enabled.

I have tried something like this:

% lpset -x canon
% lpadmin -d canon
% lpadmin -p canon -v /dev/null -m netstandard -o dest=win2003:canon -o protocol=tcp \
          -o banner=never -T PS -I postscript

The canon-printer is shared as canon on the Windows 2003-server win2003.

Didn't work...

% lpr -P canon test.ps
% lpq -P canon
Warning: canon is down: exec exit fault
Rank Owner Job File(s) Total Size
1st nils 26 26-1 252502 bytes
% lprm -P canon 26

Suggestions/tips/howto are very welcome!

I'll summarize.

Best regards,

Nils
