RE: NIS/automount issue

Hello -

We use NIS to manage our NFS automounts for home and data directories
across Linux and Solaris clients.

Recently, our NIS master (solaris 8) died and the NIS slave (Solaris
10) took up the handling the NIS requests for maps.

However, we are now getting this very frustrating behavior where after
a certain amount of time (several hours) our NFS mounted filesystems
become stale and all production stops (ie. users cannot log in, etc). I
rebuilt a new NIS master (Solaris 8) and directed the slave to start
taking the maps from the new master. However, the stale NFS file handles
are still happening.

Can anyone shed some light on this serious issue?

 Ie :

- Is the Solaris 10 slave causing the problem?

- Are there logs I can review to see what is failing?

 Will summarize.

 Many thanks -
