I am faced with a very obstinate problem as detailed below :-
Platform :- SunOS vus306 5.8 Generic_108528-23 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880
Array:- Sun Enterprise 5000 (SENA)
Veritas :- VxVM 3.5
1. A disk on one array (VUS306-2) failed. We removed the disk (access name:-
VUS306-2-F00, logical name c4t32d0 multipathed with c8t32d0) through
vxdiskadm---> option 4 and then used # luxadm remove_device VUS306-2,f0 to
remove the disk and ran # luxadm insert_device VUS306-2,f0 to add a new disk
in its place.
2. # vxdiskconfig (This called devfsadm and vxdctl enable in its phase 1 and
phase 2 of its execution).
3. # vxdiskadm ---> option 5 (replace a failed/removed disk) but while
trying to initialize the disk it fails to do so with the following error :-
Initialization of disk device c4t32d0 failed.
Error: vxvm:vxdisk: ERROR: Device c4t32d0s2: online failed:
Device path not valid
The disk however is accessible through format, partition info is ok, disk is
showing OK in # luxadm disp VUS306-2. we tried the following :-
# vxdmpadm getsubpaths dmpnodename=c4t32d0s2

The problem remained the same. We removed the disk and inserted another new
disk and repeated all the required processes as detailed above but the
problem denied to go away. Any help is most welcome. Thank in advance.
