Weird console characters on E3500

Hi,

I have exhausted all my options and could not find anything in the
archives (or on the web). So, i decided to ask here.

I have Enterprise 3500 server with two serial ports. SSH daemon crashed a
while ago and I am trying to get on to the console. After connecting the
serial cable to PC and hyperterm, nothing comes on the screen using
8600-8-N-1-N or 2400-7-E-1-X. However, the connection is active as
indicated by the timer in hyperterm.

So, i bought a null modem converter for the SUN serial port (Belkin's).
Still nothing on 8600-8-N-1-N. But, when i go to 2400-7-E-1-X, I get
random characters every 5 minutes. This char is either "Vz" or "!h". I am
used see the !h on traceroutes. But, I dont know what to make of this. I
even tried downloading the hilgrave's hyperterm.

Any help would be appreciated as I have no way of getting in to the box
and reboot is not something i was successful convincing my boss as all
services on the box are fine.

Thanks,
Srinivas
