Renumbering controllers

Dear managers,
I have a pair of V245s running Solaris 10. Each has two lp10000-e hba cards
from emulex. I am using lpfc drivers, not emlxs. I have each host connected to
a clariion cx-600

When I run format. I expect to see four entries for each lun. I have two luns.
I see those entries, but one host reaches them via the c4 and c5 controller
numbers. The other reaches them via controller numbers c5 and c6. I would like
to know how to renumber these controllers so they are the same across both
boxes. It is making Veritas volume manager very cranky.
I tried blowing away path_to_inst. Didn't work. I tried devfsadm -C -c disk.
Didn't work. Boot -- -r after each.
I tried taking one host down to the ok prompt, booting one, then booting the
other. Didn't work.
I even removed one host from the storage group, deregistered the hba's, then
add it back. Didn't work :-)
Note mpxio is disabled.
The interesting thing I noticed was that with the emlxs driver installed, the
disks showed up under the c2 controller. The links in /dev/dsk and /dev/rdsk
were all cleaned up, c2 references are gone, but still....
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Regards,
Steve
