Cluster 3.1 gds always requires Port_list property

Hi sun managers,

    I'm using Sun Cluster 3.1 (U4) and SUNW.gds (5) and have run into a
problem creating a resource without the Port_list property. As I
understand it, the Port_list property is not required if the resource is
not network-aware, however when attempting to create a resource without
this property, validation of the gds fails.

Here is what I am using to create the resource:

scrgadm -a -j mailman-mailmanctl -g mailman-rg -t SUNW.gds \
-y Resource_dependencies=mailman-hastp -y Scalable=false -x Failover_enabled=TRUE \
-x Child_mon_level=-1 \
-x Start_command="/mail/mailman/ha/mailman-start.sh" -x Stop_command="/mail/mailman/ha/mailman-stop.sh"

This tells me that validation has failed, with this slight in
/var/adm/messages:

Nov 17 11:31:37 hostname Cluster.RGM.rgmd: [ID 707948 daemon.notice]
launching method <gds_validate> for resource <mailman-mailmanctl>, re
source group <mailman-rg>, timeout <300> seconds

Nov 17 11:31:37 hostname SC[SUNW.gds:5,mailman-rg,mailman-mailmanctl,gds_validate]: [ID 971233
daemon.error] Property Port_list is not set.

Nov 17 11:31:37 hostname Cluster.RGM.rgmd: [ID 699104 daemon.error]
VALIDATE failed on resource <mailman-mailmanctl>, resource group <mailman-rg>, time used: 0% of timeout <300, seconds>

Of course I could include Network_resources_used and Port_list
properties which are already part of another resource in the resource
group, or just use a Port_list for say, SSH, but then I'm introducing monitoring
and dependencies into the mailman-mailmanctl resource which really don't
belong there.

What are others doing in this kind of situation?

Thanks as always,

Ivan Fetch.
