UNIX Administrator Poll Question

I'm gathering some statistics for a report to management and would like
some input from the community. Although much information like this is
available on the internet I would like a direct response from the
Administrator community. I am hoping to gather an average on the number
of UNIX Administrators necessary for a given number of UNIX Servers.

If you could please take a few minutes and reply it would be greatly
appreciated.

If you have the time to reply please include only information on number
of UNIX systems (i.e. Non Microsoft) and UNIX Administrators (not part
time Administrators who mix UNIX admin with other OS, such as Microsoft,
admin duties).

1. How many UNIX systems exist in your business / organization?

2. How many UNIX Administrators are responsible for the number of
systems in questions #1?

3. Of the number in question 2, how many are contractors / consultants?

4. Do you use a centralized system for account management (NIS, LDAP)
and if so what system?

5. Do you use automated systems (i.e. rsync of passwd / shadow files or
similar schemes) for account / password management (not NIS, LDAP etc)?

Thank you in advance,

Chad Johnson
