For running the older updatemager, it is needed to download the patch
12118-08. However, to download the patch from sunsolve.sun.com is
required the Sun service plan (??). The way to download the patch
without going through website is:
smpatch -i 121118-08 -d <directory for download>
After that, the updatemanager is running 1.0.8 and the problem is gone.
