Dear managers,
our SF240 is behaving badly. Users reported a printer malfunction. I
saw a print queue with 3000 entries and printer not responding. lprm
had no effect.
/usr/ucb/lprm -P Einkauf -
could not talk to print service at 10.36.49.21
I then removed the print queue completely
lpadmin -x Einkauf
and hoped recreating it would fix the problem, but thi sgave me
lpadmin -p Einkauf -v /dev/null -m netstandard_foomatic -o
protocol=bsd,dest=10.36.49.21 -T PS -I postscript
svcadm: Couldn't bind to svc.configd.
From now on this got weird.
bash-3.00# ps -Af | grep svc.configd
Nothing!
bash-3.00# /lib/svc/bin/svc.configd
svc.configd: smf(5) database integrity check of:
/etc/svc/repository.db
failed. The database might be damaged or a media error might have
prevented it from being verified. Additional information useful to
your service provider:
malformed database schema - unable to open a temporary database file
for storing temporary tables
The system will not be able to boot until you have restored a working
database. svc.startd(1M) will provide a sulogin(1M) prompt for
recovery
purposes. The command:
/lib/svc/bin/restore_repository
can be run to restore a backup version of your repository. See
http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-MY for more information.
metastat looks ok and ls onthe repository gives me
-bash-3.00# ls -l /etc/svc/repository.db
-rw------- 1 root sys 2451456 Sep 16 17:38
/etc/svc/repository.db
This "system will not be able to boot" makes me worrying. I never made
a backup of any serviuces. Is this one automatocally. Sould I call
/lib/svc/bin/restore_repository?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Andreas
