Secure Global Desktop printing?

Dear managers,

I know there's a mailing list explicitly for SGD but that seems to be
very dead. Googling for SGD printing revealed only unanswered
questions/problems. Has anyone actually gotten SGD printing to work? In
the meanwhile I have spent 4 days on reading docu, googling and trying,
but I have not yet understood how the format conversion is supposed to
work and am still far from my first succeded printout.

I am accessing a Solaris 10 x86 SGD/application server with a Mac
(MacOS 10.2). I can successfully connect to this machine with the
native client and start my X11 based unix applications. I opened a
terminal session and entered

        /opt/tarantella/bin/lp A.pdf

and expected the PDF to be printed on the default printer of the Mac,
actually a HP LaserJet 4MP PS. The first attempt seemed to succeed, the
printer at least started to print but only garbage. Obviously the PDF
was sent unchanged to the printer. All further print attempts failed
with

Unable to create Secure Global Desktop print job header

I googled for this and found absolutely nothing. Is SGD printing
working at all or should we look for another solution? How can I debug
the conversion process? I set TRACE="t" in
/opt/tarantella/bin/scripts/tta_print_converter and tailed
/opt/tarantella/var/log/print_error.log but got nothing??? Any ideas
are greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Regards,

   Andreas
