Hi All,
I'm trying to deploy net-snmp so we can use a centralized monitoring server
to gather stats, etc. I've tried version 5.1.1 (from sunfreeware) and 5.0.9
(compiled myself when someone recommended it as working better on solaris).
I'm happy to try any other version that might work.
Anyway, the problem is this. When I start up snmpd it seems fine and the
monitoring server is able to see an ok amount of info coming from the
machine. When the monitoring server tries to re-poll the machine to get
more info, snmpd starts hogging CPU and stops responding to the monitoring
server.
The same thing happens on RedHat ES4, so I suspect it's something in the
config. I saw a reference to this problem, where the poster said his snmpd
was trying to poll stuff on the machine that it doesn't have access to, but
there was no solution or followup. His workaround was to limit his config
to just the rocommunity line, and I tried that but the problem persists.
Any help would be much appreciated.
