RSC card for v480s / v440s ( System Console setup )

I have a couple of systems that recently moved into my data center and
they are some v480s, 440, and a v210. They have a RSC card with a
serial management port where you can attach an ethernet cable for a
console. I started looking at some documentation for these because a
lot of the other sun's I manage had serial A ports. And now that I
check it looks like the v440 has both the serial ports as well as a RSC
card.

Problems that I have seen with some of the sun systems are (1) that some
of the serial ports, i.e. serial port A don't always use the same pin
readout. Is there not a standard pin out for the serial ports? (2) Do
you have to install and configure RSC software for the serial management
console? I ask because I think these systems were configured for
attaching from the RSC serial management ethernet port to a lantronix
console server before and they don't have RSC software installed.

Also, how does RSC compare to LOM and ALOM? After I started doing some
research it appears that you use one thing for one platform and
something different for other platforms. Any suggestions /best
practices?

Thanks,
Dan
