OK this all came down to a few missing packages. Here are the packages I
was missing:
SUMWxcu4
SUNWsensorr
SUNWscnsomr

It seems these are required though are not listed as dependencies
anywhere (joy).

After installing these it all worked fine.

be JASS related as it turned off RPC Bind)

and all the guys a sun_update_support@sun.com who managed to help track
down the final answer of the missing packages.
