Metadevices & Metarecover, Sun Cluster 3.1

All...

HW: 2 x Sunfire V240, 4GB, Solaris 9 112233-11
SW: Sun Cluster 3.1 (circa 01/04)

After a recent catastrophic hardware failure, I recovered some metaset
soft partitions using metarecover. Before executing metarecover,
however, I didn't recreate the underlying metadevice thinking I could
create it later after I had completed the recovery effort (I forgot in
the heat of the moment, truth be told). Unfortunately, I have
discovered that it appears now that I can't do so, hence I have no way
of attaching the mirrors on the other RAID device. Sun support
suggested a maintenance period to clear the soft partitions, create the
underlying metadevice, then execute metarecover again using the
newly-created metadevice (as opposed to the DID, which I originally
did). Here's the output of the metainit command:

# metainit -s cad-dg -f d102 1 1 /dev/did/rdsk/d5s0
metainit: cad-c1: d5s0: has appeared more than once in the specification
of cad-dg/d80

cad-dg/d[5678]0 are all soft partitions in the cad-dg metaset. I've
tried creating submirrors of the soft partitions, but as expected, that
didn't work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated...
