All,
ok. I've loaded the latest Solaris 9 recommended cluster. Installed the
most current version of the jni/jfca patch, 114878-10. Rebooted. The
problem persists.
It's as though whenever the jfca driver detects a failure that it does not
pass that failure upstream and thus dmp doesn't disable the pathway. Also,
I've noticed the system completely hangs on certain things. IE: ps -ef.
This seems really strange. Possible the driver is just hanging the system?
Someone out there must have experience with the components I've listed
below. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I haven't made any changes to jfca.conf for the v490 I have on Solaris 9
with FC arrays (5100, yes they are old they are "legacy" which will one day
be replaced maybe even before EOL on them).
Looking at the content of /kernel/drv/jfca.conf, it is all about your
particular installation and attached hardware. So there is no way I could
know a priori what's appropriate. I would start with the defaults and go
from there once you have the 4.4.10 FC bundle installed and solaris 9
patched in general.

Dana,
Thanks. Yes, you are correct on the revisions. That's something I'm
working on correcting right now. I inherited this mess recently. Thanks
Quick question...do you know if I should use the jfca.conf straight out of
the box or are there some mod's I can make to help out?

Make sure you have installed current FC patches and SUNWsan. Use the
install_it_now version.

All,
Having a problem with DMP not disabling a controller once the pathway is
gone. To simulate a controller failures I merely unplug the cable
providing
the secondary pathway to the array. I see errors from the sd and jfca
driver, but I never see the "dmp disable " message until AFTER I plug
the
cable back in. While the cable is unplugged the following return
"positive" results
vxdisk path --> shows all pathways enabled
vxdmpadm getsubpaths dmpnodename=<one of the dmp devices> --> shows all
pathways "ENABLED".
Now, after plugging the cable back in I immediately see the "dmp
disabled"
for the pathway message, and if i run the two commands again I now see
the
pathways "DISABLED". After a few seconds dmp reenables the paths and
all is
fine.

An interesting note here. When NODE(1) is master and I unplug the cable
on
it vxconfigd dies thus causing the cluster monitoring to die. vxconfigd
isn't started again until I reconnect the cable.
Anyone out there have any similar experiences? My thought is that the
jfca
driver isn't letting dmp know that the pathway is gone...it's as if the
driver gets locked up. I'm going to install rev 10 of the JNI/JFCA
patch
and see if that helps.
Please shout if you have any suggestions.
