Removing CPU from a V490?

Guys,

I have to remove one of the CPUs from a V490 server.
The job should be fairly easy however I don't find
answer for my single question.
The memory sticks are on the same board as the CPU.

If I remove one of the CPUs then it will also affect
the memory configuration as the system will run on
less memory.
Is it possible to keep the memory while the server is
running on less CPUs?

Should I take any extra steps in order to let the
system know that I just removed a CPU apart from
issuing boot -r at the ok> prompt?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

John
