/var/sadm/install/contents merge tool

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is a tool or document showing how to merge a
one /var/sadm/install/contents file into another (Solaris 8 to Solaris
10 in this case). Basically I'm going from Solaris 8 to 10 not by
upgrading but by loading 10 from scratch on the boot drive using
flasharchive which works fine.

However, we have our own software installed in Solaris packaging format
that I export the actual software file systems and import once the
upgrade is done but the new contents file doesn't know about my
software. I did restore the /var/sadm/pkg directories and tried to grep
out the lines of my package entries from the old contents file into the
new one, but am getting errors on certain files when I try to add/remove
the packages. There must be something not formatted right in the
contents file. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff Donovan
