LUN cloning from VxVM mirrored volumes w/o breaking the mirrors

Hi,

I have 2 Sun hosts (host1 & host2) and 2 Hitachi SAN arrays (array1 &
array2).

The host1 has 2 HBA ports.
Originally, host1 had only one connection to SAN array1.
Using the HBA port2, I connected host1 to SAN array2 as well (indeed via a
SAN switch).
Then, I mirrored each volume (using: # vxassist -g host1dg mirror <each
volume> <list of LUNs from array2>) between array1 & array2.
Everything went smooth w/o any errors, and I verified that each volume has 2
plexes, one w/ subdisks from array1 and the other w/ from array2.

Afterwards I duplicated/cloned all the LUNs that belong to these volumes
within the SAN array2 using ShadowImage.
I have total 10 LUNs for host1, so in other words, I have 10 source LUNs and
cloned them to another 10 target LUNs on array2.
Everything went smooth w/o any errors.
I tried importing the disk group host1dg on another host2 but I was NOT able
to do so successfully.

The command I tried was:

# vxdg -Cf import host1dg

  Importing disk group import failed.
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: Disk group ora-dg: import failed: Disk group has no
valid configuration copies

With the vxdisk list command, I was able to see the disk group name, source
host (host1), etc. info in the private region of the copied LUNs, though.
The error message was:

Should I be able to do this successfully? Or, are there any obvious flaws in
my procedure/setup from the VxVM perspective?

Is it possibly the case that I'll need to break and separate the mirror to
be able to use the separated plexes as the source for this kind of LUN
cloning/duplication (instead of doing it using mirrored volumes itself)?

Thank you for your responses in advance!
