Unable to connect to a 3510

I have been trying with no luck to connect to the serial port on the RAID controller for hours now. I am connection through HyperTerm. My settings are 38400 8,N,1. I have a null modem adapter connected to a straight through serial cable. I have also tried the Flow Control at all three settings. I have tried the adapter on the array and system side. When ever I hit Ctrl L all I get is junk. I never get the menu.

Any help would be great I need to get this going soon.
