I have joined a SUSE Enterprise Server 9.3 server to my Solaris 7 NIS+
domain and I want to enable quotas; however it appears to look at the
local passwd file rather than my NIS+ passwd table. I have installed
Quota version 3.11 then ran quotacheck in order to build aquota.user,
this in itself takes a very long time as it has 79Gb to crawl. I have
configured my /etc/nsswitch.conf file thus:
passwd: files nis nisplus
group: files nis nisplus
hosts: files nisplus dns
networks: files dns
services: files
protocols: files
rpc: files
ethers: files
netmasks: files
netgroup: nisplus
publickey: files
bootparams: files
automount: files nis
aliases: files
shadow: compat
Can anyone suggest how to get my SUSE box to use my NIS+ passwd table
rather than the local passwd file? Is this a shortcoming of SUSE and or
the NIS Utils used to join a Linux OS to NIS+.
