Legato and NetApp

I'm running into a problem with Legato and a NetApp NFS server. We don't
currently have a budget to get a backup for our NetApp F810 filer. Right
now we are trying to get Legato to backup the NFS mounted path from a
Solaris 8 box. We have a spare E420R that we are trying to use as a cold
spare. We want to have the E420R mount the NetApp exports and backup via
the Legato client to our tape library. In the rare event of a failure of
the NetApp we will unmount the NetApp and restore to the E420R.

Apparently the Legato client refuses to back up NFS mounted directories.
Has anyone seen this before? Is this a license issue or a bug? Our other
option is to buy the NDMP agent for the NetApp and backup directly from the
NetApp. Obviously this would be faster but we were told that there is a
problem restoring an NDMP backup to a Solaris box via the Solaris Legato
client. Is anyone doing this? Can anyone confirm these problems?

Thanks,
Terry
