This is a known prlblem whith Solaris9. This is the Sun specified work
arount for it: Add the following line into /etc/system
set sunddi_netifname_constraints=0
and that should allow you to do a boot -r and then the system will see it
fine.

I am testing an installation of Solaris 9 9/02 with latest Recommended patch
cluster installed. OS is installed on a SPARCstation20 and works fine with
the onboard Ethernet NIC. We run an ATM network on our production machines
(Sparc20 and Ultra 10 running Solaris 7.) I wanted to test an upgrade path
so I loaded Solaris 9. When I tried to load the ATM software drivers from
FORE. FORE ATM card is in SBUS slot. Part of the 8 different package modules
installed however several gave the following error on post install step.
NOTE that is software works in Solaris 7 boxes configured identically.

drvconfig: driver failed to attach: fore_core
adb: failed to dereference symbol: unknown symbol name
The machine will not run on ATM and when I rebooted the machine and upon
subsequest boots, I get the following messages. I am new to Solaris 9. Can
someone point me a direction to a solution on what to check. It seems the
core software fore_core isn't being loaded and then all subsequent software
pieces that rely on it fail.
