moving to V240 from E450?

Guys,

I have to migrate a system from E450 to V240 with
heaps of special applications.

I just don't want to spent half of my life by figuring
out how to configure these apps so I thought I might
create a tape backup and load it onto the new V240.
That would save me some days and nightmares.

Do you think that it's achievable by deleting and
recreating the /dev and /devices directories after the
tape restore on the new host?
Is there any other steps involved in this process?
