Hello all,
I have 6 Sun boxes with the Legato Networker client ver 7.22 installed.
2 are V240s, and 4 are V440s, and they are all running identical Sol 8
installs. The Legato client was installed with identical options on
all. The 6 systems are tied togother via NIS running on the 1st V240 -
and 5 of them are backup up to the backup server(s) without error. The
2nd V240 (gazoo) is failing. The /etc/nsr/logs/daemon.log shows:
06/19/06 11:53:54 nsrexecd: Diagnostic: Reverse DNS lookup failed for
host supersecret.backup.domain.dom, address nn.nn.nn.nn
06/19/06 19:01:09 nsrexecd: Host name verification failed - unknown
host: nn.nn.nn.nn
The other 5 systems could care less about reverse lookups and are
perfectly content to just shove all their data down the backup server's
throat... gazoo however, absolutely refuses to allow the system to send
to the backup server since it fails reverse lookup verification. In
examining the Legato docs on nsrexecd, I modified the startup script to
add '-i' to disable reverse lookups and hostname verification.... which
changed absolutely nothing.... :( yay legato... big help...
Each system has the two backup servers in their hosts file. Why only
gazoo? How come the other 5 fire right up and backup with no problems?
(without the '-i' switch I might add)
Any 'Wile E Coyote - Super Geniuses' out there have any ideas... my
name's mud at this point.... and Legato is about as helpful as a wet
mouse...
Color me frustrated.
