Denny,

Thanks again for the links below. This turned out to be the way to go.
I was able to successfully install the Solaris package on my server.

Thanks also to everyone else who responded. And for those who asked, I
did try to install several versions, including 4.3p2 and got the same
error. I failed to note that in my original e-mail.

Thanks again for the tremendous help!

Jeff Hampton

How about a prebuilt Solaris package?

ftp://sunfreeware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/sunfreeware/sparc/8/openssh-4.3p2-
sol8-sparc-local.gz

and the doc at http://sunfreeware.mirrors.tds.net/openssh.html

Works for me.... :)

You'll need some support files too - also located at sunfreeware

Good Luck!

Good morning,

Machine info:
5.8 Generic_108528-13 sun4u sparc SUNW, Ultra-5_10 Solaris 8

I am trying to install SSH 3.7 on the above machine. I have upgrade
OpenSSL to 1-0.9.8b and Zlib to 1.2.3. When I perform './configure', it
works fine. However, when I perform 'make' I get the following reply:

# make
echo

if test ! -z "yes"; then \
        /usr/bin/perl ./fixprogs ssh_prng_cmds ; \ fi (cd openbsd-compat
&& make) gcc -o ssh ssh.o readconf.o clientloop.o sshtty.o sshconnect.o

ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to ssh

#

Any assistance would be appreciated. I have not been able to find any
information on this error for target 'ssh' anywhere.

Thank you!

Jeff Hampton
