Sun and Dell hardware

Hello Managers

We have 40 servers (Sun and Dell) and most of them are in production.
>From the past

two years of my observations the Sun hardware looks very stable. We have
our servers loaded with Solaris 8 and 9 (x86 and

Sparc). Most of the x86 servers are Solaris and now the issue is with
Dell hardware. We have few Dell servers

running Red Hat and experiencing hardware issues. One of the serves is
down all of a sudden.

In the past we have similar experience with another server. That server
was replaced by the vendor

and we are planning to do the same with the current one. I heard seniors
saying Sparc systems are always stable

for different reasons. My manager accepts the same but still he wants us
to install Linux and X86 Solaris on Dell systems.

Pl give me your comments/views/opinions and some good links stating the
pros and cons of this topic.

Meanwhile I have my friend Google and your sharing of knowledge and
experience will help me a lot.

Thanks in advance and I will summarize.

Rao
