strange problem with syskonnect gigabit card

Hi everyone,

Here comes a very strange problem. I have a Syskonnect gigabit card (SK-9821 V2.0)
on one of my sparc servers. Occasionally, the system experiences the following problem:
It seems as though packets no longer arrive at the network interface and the server is
completely cut off from the network. If I log through the console and snoop on the interface,
I can see packets (arp requests) going out but I can't see any packets coming in. From
the switch that my server is attached to, I can confirm that these arp requests indeed are
transmitted to the outside and normal responces seem to be going back in. Somehow the server
thinks that no packets arrive whatsoever. When at this state, the server will periodically
complain that his own mac address is trying to be his own ip address (this is the usual Sun
warning message when someone else has the same ip).

I tried to plumb/unplumb the interface but no effect. I have to admit I am completely baffled
by this behaviour, which (so far) can be corrected only by, well, rebooting. No kernel logs
that reveal anything either.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Kind regards,
Athanasios
