hi
managers
i have two servers, one with Solaris 8 and the other running Solaris 9.
The Solaris 9 server's tape drive is not working and i suspect that cable was pulled out when it was moved to anther location. the problem is i cannot take down the solaris server as it runs mission critical applications.
The solaris 8 server has a tape drive that works but when i try to backup to tape onto the solaris 8 server i get the following error message
DUMP: Protocol error, serv closed connection
DUMP: Cannot connect to tape host `serv'
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.
the Solaris 9 server uses ssh as well as telnet while the Solaris 8 server only has telnet enabled.
the same error message appears when i try to use the cp (copy ) command.
i will summarise.
TIA
Rumbi
