Hello,

I have an E450 which is running solaris8 and has Veritas Volume Manager
4.0 installed. This particular server is connected up to our CX300 SAN,
I have allocated 4 luns on the SAN and have presented these to the
server. After a reconfigure reboot on the server I can now see the 4
luns from the SAN!

This particular server also has powerpath installed so the luns appear
as emcpower0c etc. Next I ran /etc/powervxvm install to bring the
emcpower devices into VxVM control which it did, below is the output
from vxdisk list:-

DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS

c0t0d0s2 auto:sliced rootdisk rootdg online

c0t1d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c2t0d0s2 auto:sliced rootmir rootdg online

c2t1d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c3t0d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c3t1d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c4t0d0s2 auto:cdsdisk - - online

c4t1d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c4t2d0s2 auto:simple - - online

c5t0d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c5t1d0s2 auto:sliced - - online

c8t0d0s2 auto:none - - online invalid

c8t1d1s2 auto:none - - online invalid

c8t1d2s2 auto:none - - online invalid

c8t1d3s2 auto:none - - online invalid

emcpower0c simple - - online

emcpower1c simple - - online

emcpower2c simple - - online

emcpower3c simple - - online

As you can see the four devices have been bought in as type simple, is
this normal practice?

Any advice on this would be great!

Cheers

Nick
